Part of our entertainment assessment was to perform a practical task in groups of three. In my group there was Grace Maroon, Chrissy Gabor and myself. The task was to turn on, operate and turn off the school PA system and turn on, operate and turn off and small PA system.
The three of us worked together as a team and communicated well to get the job done correctly and efficiently. Whilst setting up the small PA system, it was my job to connect the speakers to the AMU and make sure they worked correctly. The only difficulty my group had doing this was that one of my group members accidentally turned off the power supply before we had properly unpacked everything. Once redoing the task, my group performed it correctly. Each group member helped the other two to complete their tasks and we had good communication will allowed for minimum difficulties.
When setting up the school PA system, my job was to turn on and operate the lectern mic and the handhelp mic while chrissy set up the microphone stand and the UHF1 microphone and grace was working in the bio box. I felt that my group had good communication skill doing this as chrisy and I communicate dwell with grace telling her when the microphones needed to be turned up and so on. We only had minor difficulties doing this such as the handheld mic needed the battery changed and the chord of the UHF1 microphone kept getting tangled which took a while to untangle.
OH&S issues which could have occurred:
- trip hazards- ie. Chords being tangled
- volume hazards- ie. Sound being too loud
- electrical harzards- ie. Things not being connected properly
- wet floor surface in hall- ie. Hall roof leaking onto stage
I think my group performed both practical tasks quite well even with minor difficulties and there is always room for improvement next time we have to perform such a task. To improve our next practical assessment, we could swap the roles around allowing everyone to operate different things so we all know how to work them.
